~Cher Dieu~ (Prayer for Paris)

Dear God
Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer
In the midst of darkness and despair
Lift the hearts in pain
Hear ye people lamenting in vain
Comfort the weary
Save the dreary
I beseech thee, Oh God
Let thy servant walk beside thee
That they may see the light amid disquiet
Let thy servant feel the touch of your hand
That those who draw upon your love
Will rise again and cling to You
When all else has fallen
When evil reign in sadistic souls
Let thy servant know
The strength from their own
That they may not forget to call upon Your most Holy Name
Through Your mercies
Let thy servant rest in Your cares
Placing their lives in Your gracious keeping
Let good triumph over evil
Let there be healing and love
Et ceci est ma prière
Pour Paris

(And this is my prayer for Paris)

(Let us pray the Lord’s Prayer)

(The Lord’s Prayer)

Amen.

  1. Ohhh, this is a most marvelous, heartfelt prayer–thank you for putting the words to my feelings. I’ve been in prayer since hearing the news, have asked God not only to comfort those impacted–but to show His miraculous love in the midst of loss and evil. I have absolute trust He hears and answers our prayers. God be with them, and all of us.
